The first celebration of Black History Month in Round Rock was in 2008 when a citizen proposed hosting a traveling expedition featuring the Tuskegee Airmen.  The celebrations have expanded since then to include art galleries, photography exhibitions with a focus on local black history, and bus tours.  The celebrations have garnered attention in local newspapers and blogs.

This case study was nominated for ICMA's Annual Awards Program.
