The City of Olathe recently transitioned its approximately 35,000 water meters to a fully automated system. Under the new system, meters do not need to be read manually by City staff; instead, the meters automatically send usage information through an Automated Water Information system. The City was able to avoid taking on new debt by financing the project through a performance contract with Johnson Controls.
