This article consists of five reports by managers of cities which have held Olympic events in the past (Decatur, Georgia; Sydney, Australia) or will host the 2002 Winter Olympics (Park City, Salt Lake City, West Valley City, Utah). They discuss topics such as establishing a task force to plan events, the timeframe of Olympics preparation, establishing working relationships with other local governments, as well as federal agencies and international bodies, and the overall effect of Olympics preparations on city infrastructure. Two of the reports focus on preparations for the 2002 Winter Olympics by smaller towns. The final one addresses the Olympics in the context of economic development of the host city.
