To help improve a declining section of Mesquite, TX, the city organized a Renewal Project in partnership with faith-based groups, local businesses, and civic groups. The project centers on, “Addressing Mesquite Day”, when volunteers help low-income, disabled, and elderly residents with minor house and yard work. Since its start in 2005, 65 different community organizations have participated and 322 homes have been assisted.
