The CityLinks team is excited to be participating the 2nd exchange in the partnership between Semarang, Indonesia and Gold Coast Australia next week.  The team from Semarang will be arriving in Gold Coast Monday afternoon to kick off a busy week of presentations, discussions and site visits.  The plan is to get a behind the scenes look at the Disaster Coordination Center, Seaway Sand Bypassing System, and a number of other sites which make Gold Coast stand out in its fight against the effects of climate change.

The first exchange, which took place last fall, resulted in the partnership developing a workplan around the development of a coastal modeling system of Semarang’s coastline to help gain a better understanding of the processes responsible for its disappearing coastline into the Java Sea. This exchange will provide the Semarang team to get a first-hand look at how Gold Coast has used its modeling system to mitigate and prevent the destruction of its own coastline.  Stay tuned for updates and pictures next week.
