Next week the CityLinks team will travel to Dhaka, Bangladesh for the International Conference on Urban Health (ICUH) which is organized by the International Society for Urban Health (ISUH).

CityLinks, in conjunction with The National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO) and the National Environmental Health Association (NEHA) will hold a session entitled Fostering Healthy and Prosperous Communities through Effective Collaboration with Local Governments and Public Health Partners. The session will examine the roles and relationships among and between local and national level governmental agencies in support of efforts to ensure and enhance the health of their residents. Emphasis will be put on practical and achievable tactics that are inclusive of all community members including vulnerable populations and the urban poor.

Dr. Umair Shah, MD, MPH, Executive Director Public Health and Environmental Services, Harris County, Texas and John Elsesser, Town Manager, Town of Coventry, Connecticut will be moderated by David T. Dyjack, Dr.PH, CIH Executive Director & CEO National Environmental Health Association.

They have studied and implemented effective health policies and systems in their communities that recognize the social determinants of health in the development of, and access to, public services. They will demonstrate the importance of emerging thought that recognizes that adaptive leadership techniques are essential to highly dynamic environments where public health problems and solutions require learning, stakeholder engagement, and resulting interventions benefit from targeted experimentation and smart risks.
