Background

Ensuring the language in the Code reflects the values of the profession has been a long-standing priority for ICMA. Based on recent ethics complaints and numerous member questions, the ICMA Executive Board’s Committee on Professional Conduct (CPC) determined it would revisit the guideline on Professional Respect to broaden its scope since it primarily only addresses conduct during a recruitment process.

The CPC began gathering feedback during a session at the 2021 ICMA Annual Conference, drafted revised guideline language, and is asking members for additional feedback at the 2023 ICMA Annual Conference and through this online survey.

Your Feedback is Important

Feedback from this survey will shape the CPC recommendations to the board on potential revisions to the guideline. The ICMA Constitution provides the board the authority to amend the guidelines to the Code.
