The 2022-2023 ICMA Executive Board met September 29, 2023, in Austin, Texas, for its quarterly meeting and took the following actions:

  • Reviewed the president-elect selection process for 2024. Forty-three regional vice presidents are eligible to submit their candidacy to serve as ICMA's 2024-2025 president-elect. The application process opens October 24, 2023, with applications due by February 2, 2024.

  • Reviewed ICMA's insurance coverage. Each year, ICMA's chief financial officer provides a report on ICMA's insurance coverage so that the board can ensure that ICMA has adequate coverage to protect the association from risks.

  • Approved the creation of a new service award for advocacy/ethics. The board approved creation of a new service award honoring Martha Perego's contributions to the profession and the membership, the first such award honoring a woman. ICMA's Awards Evaluation Committee will be asked to develop criteria for the new award, which will then come back to the board for final approval. The first award in this category will be given at the 2024 ICMA Annual Conference in Pittsburgh.
