The National Civic League (NCL),  the organization that offers the All-America City Awards, has come up with a challenge for U.S. communities: hold an "All-America Conversation." NCL believes that there's never been a better time for communities to stand up for the values that make cities and towns strong: civility, humanity, trust, compassion, innovation and inclusiveness. To help communities develop conversations that remind people that we can work together across dividing lines and help our communities to get even small things done, NCL is inviting communities to learn more about how to hold an All-America Conversation.

What: All-America Conversations (Conference Call Forum)

When: Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2017, 1 p.m. - 2 p.m. MST

Where: Conference Call Forum - Click here to register.

Instructions on how to access the toolkit and assistance for communities will be provided during the call.

NCL will provide communities with a toolkit that includes everything necessary to begin their own community conversation. The toolkit walks communities through:

* How to identify whom to engage and how to recruit participants.

* Where to hold the conversations.

* How to set up the room.

* What questions to ask.

* How to select and prepare facilitators and note takers.

* How to adapt the conversation guide to different types of meetings.

These conversations can be tailored to fit local needs and resources. In some cases, the National Civic League will provide assistance and coaching or, where possible, connect communities with local sources of assistance in conducting these meetings and implementing the action plans that follow.
