ICMA has published a new report on the use of free or open source software in local government. The report presents six case studies of U.S. cities of varying sizes, analyzes degrees of open source implementation, and examines positive and negative outcomes of those decisions. It also offers starting points and tools for local governments to initiate open source projects of their own.
The report is available at icma.org/opensourcereport on ICMA's Knowledge Network, along with an open source software group (icma.org/osgroup) and an editable wiki.
