Washington, D.C.—ICMA announces a new version of its Life, Well Run website, which makes it easier to use on cell phones and tablets. The website, which highlights the contributions that appointed professional city, town, and county managers make to their communities, now includes a new section which celebrates the unsung public servants who together with those managers deliver and improve local services.

Other features include a success story map highlighting nearly 100 community success stories and downloadable resources such as videos; educational brochures; career information; and messaging, presentations, templates, and other materials that target students, teachers, elected officials, and business leaders.

ICMA launched the Life, Well Run initiative in 2009 with the goal of raising the visibility and understanding of the role that professional managers play in ethically, efficiently, and effectively delivering community services as well as attracting the next generation of local government managers. ICMA-RC is a principal sponsor of the Life, Well Run campaign, and the initiative receives continued support from other corporate partners, state associations, and members.

“As the only nonprofit provider of retirement plans exclusively for public sector employees, we are excited to partner with ICMA to celebrate the value of local government public service,” says Bob Schultze, ICMA-RC president and CEO. “Since our establishment in 1972, ICMA-RC has continued its longstanding support of making professional development for local and state employees readily available and attracting young people to public service through initiatives such as ICMA University, Leadership Development Programs, and the Life, Well Run public awareness campaign.”

Now mobile-responsive, the new scalable format of the Life, Well Run campaign’s content-rich website makes reading and navigation much easier across a range of devices. By clicking on the newly created “Community Heroes” tab from the top navigation bar, visitors can also view a series of new video profiles that highlight a range of often-ignored public employees—such as police officers, teachers, or solid waste managers—who use their talents each day to improve the quality of life in their communities and help city, town, and county managers deliver Life, Well Run.
