Highlights from the 2012 ICMA CAO Salary and Compensation Survey show that

  • Eighty-one percent of survey respondents report a contract or employment agreement.
  • The vast majority of employment agreements document the CAO's full compensation package.
  • Seventy-nine percent of respondents report being eligible to receive severance pay.
  • Reported salaries show a minimum of $25,264 and a maximum of $368,282.
