ICMA Careers

The role of regional director is integral to supporting ICMA’s membership on a more personal level. With a robust membership in all 50 states, ICMA is composed of five U.S. regions—Mountain Plains, Midwest, West Coast, Northeast, and Southeast—with regional directors serving as the face and voice of ICMA in their corresponding regions. Regional directors must be from the area where they serve, that way, they are well-equipped to cater to and be an advocate for the individual needs of ICMA members in their region.

Regional directors are also responsible for coordinating all ICMA activities within their respective territory, ensuring a consistent presence and engagement with members that is tailored to their region. Regional directors are a key component to the success of ICMA, both supporting and promoting the goals and priorities established and adopted by the ICMA Executive Board.

If you are a highly accomplished local government thought leader looking for a change of pace and a unique opportunity to make a lasting impact on numerous ICMA members and their communities, then a regional director position may be the perfect fit for you. ICMA is currently seeking to fill the regional director role in two of its regions: the Midwest and the Northeast.

  • The regional director in the Midwest region will provide support to communities in Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio, and Wisconsin.
  • The regional director in the Northeast region will provide support to communities in Connecticut, Delaware, Massachusetts, Maryland, Maine, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and Vermont.

This is a part-time position with an established work schedule averaging around 20 hours per week, and a prorated salary based on the full-time salary equivalent. Prospective candidates must reside in one of the states included in the region for which they are interested in serving. View the downloadable job description for more information and apply today!
