The ICMA Executive Board will meet in Bratislava, Slovakia, May 31- June 3, 2012, hosted and financially supported by the Slovak City Managers Association. Meeting in Bratislava provides a unique opportunity for board members and ICMA’s international affiliates to have an extended conversation on topics that will contribute to the shared goal of networking and exchanging knowledge and skills across international boundaries. The board will:

  • Meet with representatives of ICMA’s international affiliate organizations to discuss issues of mutual interest that affect communities around the world, how to work together most effectively to create excellence in local governance, and how to increase international membership and its involvement.
  • Conduct field trips to learn about best practices in Slovakian communities.
  • Review and approve the FY2013 budget.
  • Confirm executive director and board evaluation processes.
  • Select site for 2020 ICMA Annual Conference and select region for 2021.
  • Consider nominations for Distinguished Service Awards.
  • Review progress on membership recruitment and retention.
  • Review next steps on implementation of regional nominating committees that will select a nominee in each region for regional vice president starting with the 2013 elections.
