As part of the proposed budget for fiscal year 2018, it seems inevitable that communities will see funding cuts. The proposal submitted by Office of Management and Budget Director Mick Mulvaney would completely cut the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program in the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
These grants represent over $3 billion dollars of funding that goes directly into local communities. In an attempt to preserve them, the ICMA signed a letter to Congress spelling out our position. Now we want to hear from you. Join us in the #SaveCDBG Campaign and help to preserve community block grants for the communities that need it most.
Here’s how you can help:
- Share photos of how your #localgov has used CDBG funds with the hashtag #SaveCDBG.
- Reach out to your local representative urging them to preserve the CDBG program.
- Tag us! We want to share your stories with our community of followers, and Congress directly.
We hope that leveraging the local government community will help put a stop to CDBG’s elimination. Show your support. Share your story!
