On December 29, 2010, the U.S. Census Bureau released information that showed an encouraging trend for local revenues: tax revenues grew in the third quarter, marking the fourth straight quarter of positive growth. Property tax, general sales tax, and individual income tax revenues increased, while corporate income tax revenue declined. The decline in corporate income tax revenue is the third consecutive quarter of decline.

A summary shows quarterly tax revenue data on property, sales, license, income, and other taxes. Data are shown for individual state governments, as well as national-level estimates of total state and local taxes, including 12-month calculations.

The Census Bureau's quarterly survey has been conducted continuously since 1962. Also visit http://www.census.gov/govs/qtax.
