Four of the FEMA Individual and Community Preparedness Award recipients are communities served by ICMA member managers or deputy managers:
- Awareness to Action Award: City of Henderson, Nevada – “Get READY! Stay READY! Campaign; Robert Murnane, city manager
- John D. Solomon Whole Community Preparedness Award: Spartanburg County, South Carolina, Office of Emergency Management; James Hipp, deputy county administrator
- Outstanding Community Emergency Response Team Initiatives Award: Orange County, California, Community Emergency Response Team Mutual Aid Program; Michael Giancola, county executive officer
- Excellence in Volunteer Sustainability Award: City of Irvine, California, Community Emergency Response Team; Sean Joyce, city manager.
The awards ceremony was held as part of September’s observance of National Preparedness Month, which is a time for communities across the United States to encourage residents to take steps to prepare for emergencies in their homes, businesses, schools, and communities.
