For the third year in a row, ICMA and its Strategic Partner, Esri have launched a new challenge to software developers and computer programmers to create and refine apps to improve the efficiency of service delivery and engage citizens more deeply in local government.

The past two years, we have held hackathons to bring developers in over the weekend before the ICMA Annual Conference. For Seattle, we’ve opted to open the Esri-ICMA Social Services App Challenge to give developers and programmers more time to work on their ideas before the competition begins. We also hope that more local government programmers will join the competition and submit their own ideas for new innovations to make work flow more smoothly.
