The City of Delaware is pleased to announce a partnership with Delaware Hayes High School’s “D-Town” video arts class. The City's Community Affairs Office approached the school about “hiring” student teams to create short videos on topics selected by the City that residents would find useful.
Student teams work on the projects with City staff during their D-town class time or after school. They receive real-world experience and the product counts toward their class grade. The City, via high-quality video, is able to engage residents via another media.
"Win-win is an overused expression but that is exactly what this is," said Lee Yoakum, City Community Affairs Coordinator. "The students are producing important videos and the City is able to engage even more with its residents."
The first video, on fire prevention and fire safety, is now viewable on the City's YouTube channel here. It was produced in October by Mad Dog Productions, comprised of Hayes juniors Ian Alger, Corbin Binkley, Josh Hill and Evan Hecker. The next video, by a different Hayes team, already is in production and will follow later this month.
