ICMA’s 3rd annual video contest is underway!  ICMA would like you to put your creative and technical skills to use and create a short video, and possibly win a prize!  The contest will close on Friday, September 17, but don’t delay in preparing your submission.  When you’re ready to submit, contact Alex Brown at alexbrown@icma.org for instructions.

Below, please find some important information that all entrants will need to be aware of before submitting an entry to the contest:

Contest Rules

Here's all the legalese. It's not as scary as it sounds.

  1. Eligibility : This contest is open to all residents of the United States and its territories and possessions who are 18 years or older at the time of their entry. Void where prohibited by law. Employees, family members, and advertising partners of ICMA are ineligible for prizes associated with this contest and their entries will be disqualified.
  2. To Enter : All entries must be the original work of the participant and must not have been previously exhibited, recorded, or transmitted; must not contain the trademarks, designs, copyrighted works, intellectual property, names, likenesses, or images of any person or entity; and must not otherwise infringe upon the copyrights, trademarks, privacy, or other intellectual property rights of any person or entity.
  3. Video Requirements : The purpose of this contest is to show creativity in demonstrating the value of professional management and/or ICMA membership.
  4. Use of Videos : ICMA will have an irrevocable, perpetual, royalty-free license to copy, excerpt, and edit all videos submitted that meet the specified requirements.
  5. Disqualification : Submission of false information regarding name, mailing address, telephone number, or other personal information will result in disqualification of entry from the video contest.
  6. Privacy : By providing personal contact information, entrants agree to receive correspondence from ICMA related to their entry on an as needed basis. ICMA will neither share personal contact information nor contact entrants for purposes unrelated to this contest, unless the entrant is already an ICMA member or has previously signed-up to receive ICMA email or other notices.
  7. Judging and Prizes : Winning entries will be selected based on video quality, creativity, and relevance. Three videos will be selected to receive awards: 1) A conference scholarship for the ICMA Annual Conference, including full conference registration and a travel stipend of $1,200, 2) Full conference registration for the ICMA Annual Conference and a travel stipend of $500, or 3) A conference scholarship for the ICMA Annual Conference, including full conference registration and a travel stipend of $300.  The conference registration prizes can be used for the 2010 conference in San Jose, California.
  8. Limitation of Liability : Entrant agrees to release, hold harmless, and indemnify ICMA for any liability whatsoever. ICMA also is not responsible for any errors that occur in transmission of entries over the Internet.
  9. Entrant Agreement : Submission of an entry into the contest constitutes the entrant's full and unconditional agreement to and acceptance of the aforementioned rules and requirements.
