Part of the Managers Forum series
Local governments and police departments are passionate about building trust and growing relationships with the communities they serve. What steps can local governments take to meet the new level of expectations that exist in today’s environment?
On October 20th, Dallas City Manager, A.C. Gonzalez and Jerry Newfarmer, President and CEO of Management Partners discussed how the City of Dallas made bold changes, reforming its police department in five years to be recognized as a national model for community policing. Mr. Gonzalez will share how training, policy changes, and community engagement efforts paved the way for building trust among their citizens. Today, Dallas is a less violent city than it was just five years ago while its overall crime rates have decreased; including violent crime, fewer excessive force complaints and a decrease in arrest rates.
