What You'll Be Doing
This is an advanced professional, administrative, and managerial position that is responsible for complex professional work on a variety of planning tasks in the Department of Community Development. The primary focus is providing oversight of land use, zoning, and preservation staff that review development applications, compose ordinance and plan amendments, support advisory bodies, and conduct outreach to the community. The Deputy Director – Planning provides direct supervision to three division managers, and is asked to serve as Director on an as needed basis. The position also manages major planning initiatives for the Town including but not limited to attainable housing programs, comprehensive regulatory updates, and in-depth studies that bridge the gap between policy and implementation.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in planning, architecture, architectural history, design, or a related field and five years progressively responsible experience in planning or development work or equivalent combination of education and experience
Two years of supervisory experience or progressively responsible management experience
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s Degree in Planning, Public Administration, or related field
American Institute of Certified Planners
Five years of supervisory and/or management experience
Bilingual in English/Spanish
