The Park and Recreation Superintendent performs complex professional and administrative work planning, organizing and directing all recreation and parks activities for the city; preparing and maintaining related records, reports and files; administering budgets and grants; and related work. Work is performed under the general direction of the City Administrator. Departmental supervision is exercised over all personnel within the department.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in parks and recreation administration or related field and extensive experience working in parks and recreation administration with some supervisory responsibility, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Qualified candidates will be forward thinking, take charge leaders with excellent communication, interpersonal and management skills. Previous experience planning and directing park and recreation operations/programs and preparing and administering budgets required. Must be able to build effective working relationships with City staff, elected officials, and the general public.
Special Requirements
Certified pool operator within one (1) year preferred. CPR/first aid certification within one (1) year. Applicable position, department, organization and professional training will be provided and must be completed upon hire and on an ongoing basis. Valid class D driver's license.
