The Village of Mundelein is seeking an experienced, community-focused Police Chief to lead a 70‑position department serving 32,000 residents. The Chief will provide progressive, visible leadership, manage operational and strategic department needs, maintain strong community relations, and collaborate with village leadership.
The Police Chief directs department operations and budget, establishes written policies and discipline per Village rules, appoints exempt positions (except their own), reviews officer reports, prepares reports and traffic surveys for Village leadership, and communicates with the media about department activities. Required qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in a police‑related field, at least 10 years of progressive law enforcement administration with a minimum of five years in supervisory roles, strong communication skills, integrity, and knowledge of contemporary policing strategies; bilingual English/Spanish fluency is highly beneficial.
The position offers an annual salary range of $188,656–$205,032; the Village expects to hire at the starting salary.
