Community Development Director
City of Macomb, IL
The City of Macomb is seeking an experienced Community Development Director to
lead zoning, development, code enforcement, and community and economic
development efforts.
Key Responsibilities
• Administer and enforce zoning, building, housing, and property maintenance codes.
• Review development plans, zoning requests, subdivisions, and permits.
• Serve as staff liaison to Planning Commission, ZBA, and Historic Preservation
Commission.
• Oversee rental inspections, neighborhood preservation, and code enforcement.
• Manage TIF Districts, Business Development District, Enterprise Zone, revolving loan
program, and housing grants.
• Prepare community development and housing grant applications.
• Serve as City Plat Officer and respond to zoning/development inquiries.
• Collaborate with MAEDCO, WIU, and regional partners; prepare reports and policy
recommendations.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in planning, geography, public administration, or related field
• Five years of municipal/community development experience, preferred.
• AICP or PCED preferred; equivalent experience considered.
• Residency in McDonough County required.
• Strong code knowledge, communication, and project management skills.
