Electrical Inspector

The City of Rock Springs is seeking a diligent and attentive individual to perform technical electrical and building inspection work in enforcing compliance with electrical and building codes, regulations, and ordinances. Will be responsible for reviewing plans and applications for field inspection; inspecting industrial, commercial and residential electrical installations and related buildings and equipment during various stages of construction and remodeling to ensure compliance with applicable codes, ordinances and regulations including National Electric Code, Building Code, Plumbing Code, International Mechanical Code, City ordinances, and other City departments' requirements; and checking plans for special conditions or requirements to existing Building Code. Will facilitate identification of code violations; obtain and prepare evidence; issue notices to comply on violations; follow-up on correction notices to ensure required corrections have been performed; and maintain records of history of facts for possible legal actions. Must have the ability to understand, interpret and apply accepted safety standards and methods of electrical installations and building construction for commercial, industrial and residential buildings; apply technical knowledge and follow proper inspection techniques to examine workmanship and materials and detect deviations from plans, regulations and standard electrical installation and construction practices; and advise on standard electrical system installation methods and requirements for residential, commercial and industrial buildings. Five years of increasingly responsible inspection experience needed. Must possess a Journeyman or Master Electrician license, as well as International Code Council Commercial Electrical Inspector certification.
