The City of Richland seeks a visionary leader with public works experience to serve as its next Public Works Director. The ideal candidate will be committed to excellent departmental culture. The Department is of a size that requires a leader to operate at a visionary level, and also be effective, understanding project details.
The chosen Public Works Director will be a subject matter expert and very comfortable with giving reports and presentations to the City Council, community groups, and other stakeholders. They will be a long-range planner, able to quickly assess the state of things within the department and establish a path for the future. They will be experienced working with and building relationships with regional, state, federal, and other local agencies and stakeholders.
This position requires a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with coursework in engineering, public administration, or a related field, plus at least six years of experience in public works, including five years in a senior management role. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. A valid Washington state driver’s license is required. A Professional Engineer license is preferred.
The salary range for this position is $149,043 - $208,660. The target hiring range for this position is $149,043 - $178,851, dependent upon qualifications and experience.
