We are seeking an effective and visionary leader for our diverse Community and Neighborhood Services team who will continue the economic development success for our community’s future. This is a key position on the City’s Leadership Team working closely with the City Manager. We desire an influential candidate who can continue fostering a positive organizational culture. Director of Community and Neighborhood Services

PAY RANGE: $108,472/yr. - $130,208/yr.

REPORTS TO: City Manager

JOB SUMMARY: Under the general direction of the City Manager, this position is responsible for creating a dynamic and innovative environment for protecting and promoting the health, safety, and welfare of the citizens of Holland and its visitors according to City’s plans, policies, and strategies. This is accomplished by overseeing the day-to-day management of the Department of Community and Neighborhood Services which is comprised of eighteen full time employees and two part time employees covering approximately the following city functions: Comprehensive and Current Planning, Development Reviews, Construction Inspection Services, Zoning, Rental Housing Inspection Services, General Code Enforcement, Neighborhood and Home Improvement Programs, Economic Development, Sustainability and Solid Waste/Recycling Programs. This work includes directing the orderly planning for the economic and residential growth and redevelopment of the City; directing the drafting and enforcement of City ordinances; and planning the orderly maintenance of the City’s environmental services and inspections, all while removing barriers to success.
