Director of Community Development

Village of Woodridge, IL

The Village of Woodridge is seeking a creative and strategic development professional to lead the Village’s Community Development Department. This position performs a variety of supervisory, administrative, technical and professional work, and provides direct support to the Village’s Plan Commission. The Community Development department is responsible for planning, building permits/inspections, economic development and property maintenance for the community. The position is appointed by, and reports to, the Village Administrator.

• Plan and organize workloads and staff assignments.
• Manage and supervise planning and economic development operations and initiatives to achieve goals within available resources.
• Provide professional planning, zoning, and land use advice to supervisors and other officials; make private and public presentations to supervisors, boards, commission, civic groups, and the general public.
• Attract new businesses and developers to Village through attraction and marketing efforts.
• Interpret, maintain and implement the Village Code, ordinances, and policies.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Leadership Ability
• Possess a Master’s Degree in land-use planning, urban planning, landscape architecture or closely related field. AICP preferred along with five (5) years’ experience in municipal planning and three (3) years’ supervisory experience.
• Possess strong organizational leadership, with excellent strategic management and problem solving skills.

Benefit and Salary Information
The Village offers a comprehensive benefit package, including health and life insurance, IMRF pension, vacation time, paid holidays, personal days and sick days. The salary range is $104,686-$151,611 DOQ.
