This document details the City of Sugar Land’s ambitious plan to expand their solid waste program. The plan which was implemented in December 2011 offered citizens the ability to recycle without virtually lifting a thumb. With citizens being provided with the opportunity to recycle green waste, bulky waste and hazardous waste at no extra charge the plan proved to be a success. The program has been nominated for the 2016 Local Government Excellence Awards in the category of Community Sustainability (populations of 50,000 and greater).
