The Schultz Community Recovery (SCR) Project began almost four years ago with the goal of mitigating long-term post-wildfire flash flooding for more than 4,000 residents of an unincorporated area near Flagstaff, Arizona, who continue to be impacted by the aftermath of the 2010 Schultz Wildfire. Comprised of thousands of community stakeholders, nearly 50 local, state and federal partner agencies and organizations, and spearheaded by the Coconino County Board of Supervisors (serving as the Flood Control District), the SCR Project continues to set a standard for technological innovation and community outreach, involvement and cooperation by which other post-wildfire flash flood mitigation projects might be measured.
