In response to the economic and foreclosure crisis devastating the area, the County of DeKalb has partnered a number of local government departments to implement the Action In Rem process which aims to expedite the demolition of uninhabitable or dangerous properties. The program has been nominated for the 2016 Local Government Excellence Awards in the category of Community Sustainability (populations of 50,000 and greater).
