The Village of Schaumburg, IL recognizes a need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in
order to be a sustainable community now and in the future. In 2008 the village undertook the task
of compiling an inventory of Schaumburg’s existing environmental programs, policies, and
ordinances in order to form goals for the future that will have a positive impact on the
environment. In order to expand and build upon these 30 successful programs, Schaumburg
produced the village’s Comprehensive Green Action Plan (C GAP) that focuses on strengthening
the village’s commitment to the environment and provides clear, organized direction and
expectations for staff and the community.
