This is the 2010 nomination of Sedgwick County, Kansas' Management Model Including Sustainability Factors program for the Community Sustainability Award. County Manager William Buchanan is credited with developing a six step formal strategic decision-making process. Central to this Management Model were sustainability initiatives such as purchasing hybrid cars and putting certain applications online. Through this model, the county seeks to integrate sustainability ideals into every decision.
