We are excited to announce the launch of ICMA’s new blog. You can view all the ICMA blog posts here

We have taken significant time during the past 6+ months to think through not only how we connect you with great content but also how we can best serve our members by making a single blog the primary source of information for local government professionals.

Our goal with ICMA|blog is to provide followers with new resources and insights on what’s happening in local government on a daily basis, and to have all blog posts available in one central space. It will be the home of posts from ICMA staff and invited thought leaders in local government. We hope that you find ICMA|blog easy to use, accessible, and informative.

You might notice in the next few weeks that some of the blogs you’ve become accustomed to will be disappearing.  Don’t worry! All of these blogs are going to be incorporated into the new and more visible ICMA|blog.  You can find the complete list of blog changes here.

Here are 5 tips to help you get the most from ICMA|blog:

1. SUBSCRIBE

You might ask, why should I subscribe to this blog? The answer is that this blog will cover pressing and trending topics in local governments; include guest posts from peer experts on a wide range of topics; highlight resources from ICMA that you may not be aware of; and much more! Just as has been the case with other ICMA blogs, the easiest way to follow everything going on in ICMA|blog is by subscribing via e-mail. When you subscribe, all new posts to ICMA|blog will be automatically sent to your in box.

2. TOPICS

We’re making it easy to find what you’re looking for by tagging every blog post with Knowledge Network topics tags. The tagging also lets you easily view all the posts within a given topic. On the right-hand side of the ICMA|blog page you will see a list of all the Knowledge Network topics. Select the topic of interest to you, and your view of the topic will automatically be populated with all of that topic’s posts.

3. TAGS

ICMA|blog will also include posts that are not represented by the Knowledge Network topics.  To help organize these posts and make them accessible, the authors will add customized tags.  These custom tags are also listed on the right-hand side of the page, and you can use them the same as the standard Knowledge Network topic tags.

4. COMMENT

Do you have something to say?  We want to know what you think about our posts, anything we missed in them or anything that prompts investigation in a new direction, and anything else you have to say regarding the topic. Comments help drive discussions on the topic covered in the post, can provide additional information to readers, and just generally expand the learning and sharing experience. At the bottom of each post is a box where you can add your comments.

5.SUGGEST

We are constantly striving to keep a finger on the pulse of what’s happening in local government, but we want and need to hear from you.  Tell us what new subjects to cover and suggest the names and e-mail addresses of possible guest bloggers.  If you have an idea, send it to knowledgenetwork@icma.org!
