Public Management (PM) published 147 articles in print and online during calendar year 2015. It goes without saying that I like and value all of them and appreciate the members and friends of ICMA who contributed to the magazine this past year. Management-related articles focused on a variety of topics: ethics, council relations and good governance, marijuana, public safety, work/life balance, innovation, and much more.

Still, it’s fun to make lists, so I’ve selected 11 articles (I couldn’t pick just 10!) as my current favorites. I chose them because I found them to be realistic and the essence of PM’s mission: to connect leading-edge thinking to everyday challenges—both personal and professional. Here are my picks, and if you didn’t catch them first time through, now might be the time to have a good read:

My StrengthsFinder 2.0 assessment this year showed that one of my key strengths is responsibility. In other words, as the StrengthsFinder book by author Tom Rath tells me, I am utterly dependable. I plan to use that strength with the magazine’s content during 2016.
