Two state association meetings back-to-back!! Last week at TCMA, Karen Thoreson presented the Next Big Things Workshop. The attendees were very engaged and great interest was sparked at considering the trends that may affect our communities in the next 20 years. Check out more about NBT on the Alliance web site.

This week at the Georgia meeting, I facilitated a Rapid Fire Session of Ideas that Worked!! Presenters included Sammy Rich, city manager, Rome; Tom Couch, County Manager, Bulloch County, Randy Knight, county administrator, Hall County, and Peggy Merriss, city manager, Decatur. Additionally, I was happy to be present when Isaiah Hugley, city manager, Columbus-Muskogee Consolidated Government, was awarded with the prestigious Pillar of Excellence Award. Coming from humble and challenging beginnings, Isaiah has been and is a champion in his profession and a well-respected individual among his peers. Congratulations, Isaiah!!
