Project cycle management training participants

During April 7 - 9 2015, WMTR team conducted three-day training on project cycle management for 15 students of Kakheti public schools. The training held at the Green Centre in Bulachauri provided an overview of integrated waste management principles and WMTR project components.

As part of the “learning by doing” training process, the students divided into three teams were asked to to prepare a grant project that would contribute to raising awareness about waste management issues in a community and bring on a positive change, under specific budget and timeframe constraints.

The participants went through all stages of a project development: came up with an idea, identified target groups, created a problem tree and thought through possible solutions to potential problems, planned activities, and composed a budget. On the last day of training the teams prepared grant proposals and submitted them for "funding".

All participants received certificates of participation.

Project cycle management training is designed to help public school students acquire skills to plan and to implement environmental activities. WMTR team conducted another training session during May 9 - 11, 2015 for 17 students of public schools in Kakheti and Adjara program regions and will continue the activity, going forward.

The initiative Waste Management Technologies in Regions is supported by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and implemented by the International City/County Management Association (ICMA) together with its local partner Caucasus Environmental NGO Network (CENN).

WMTR aims to support the competent central and local government authorities, local businesses and communities, and municipalities in the design of an integrated waste management system for the Kakheti and Adjara regions.
