Are you an ICMA member who has not attended an ICMA Annual Conference? Do you wish you could join your colleagues in San Antonio but don't know how you'll pay for it?

We're here to help you get to your first annual conference in the Lone Star State!

ICMA is accepting Conference Assistance and Stene Academic Scholarship program applications through June 5, 2017. Complete information on the scholarship program can be found on the website.

Conference Assistance Scholarships

ICMA’s Conference Assistance Scholarships are divided into three categories:

1.   Young Professional Scholarship

2.   Workplace Diversity Scholarship

3.   Small Community Employee Scholarship.

Each is designed to help members experience all there is to experience at an ICMA Annual Conference! To be eligible for any of the scholarships, an applicant must:

  • Be an ICMA member at the time of application.
  • Be a first-time ICMA Annual Conference attendee (this requirement is not applicable to persons who attended a past conference as a student member).
  • Be a full-time local government employee.
  • Submit a completed online application (with essay).
  • Demonstrate through an essay an avid interest in a career in local government management.

Application materials are due June 5. Direct questions Felicia Littky at flittky@icma.org or 202/962-3656.

Members In Transition

MITs are granted complimentary registration to the ICMA Annual Conference. Additionally, there are limited funds available to provide travel stipends to MIT members. Contact Rosalyn Ceasar at rceasar@icma.org or 202/962-3544.

Stene Academic Scholarship Program

Each year, ICMA selects a graduate school student as the recipient of its $1,000 Edwin O. Stene Academic Scholarship, named in memory of Kansas University Professor Edwin O. Stene. ICMA also will provide the Stene scholarship recipient with complimentary registration to the 2017 annual conference. Travel and housing expenses are not included in the stipend.

An applicant must be enrolled by September 2016 as full-time graduate student specializing in local government at a college or university recognized by the National Association of Schools of Public Affairs and Public Administration to be eligible to apply for the Stene Scholarship. An applicant must have had little or no full-time experience in local government, internships excluded.

Application requirements can be found on the website. Application materials are due June 5. Direct questions to Felicia Littky at flittky@icma.org or 202/962-3656.
