The ICMA Executive Board has set the following agenda for its December 6-9, 2012, meeting in Fort Lauderdale, Florida:

  • Engage in strategic discussions on topics of importance to the association and to the profession. The November/December board meeting each year focuses on a few strategic issues. The topics for this meeting:

-Planning for ICMA’s 100th anniversary celebration. Planning to date and the potential role for a member task force.
-Task Force on Financing ICMA. An interim discussion with the chair about task force direction in preparation for a final report to the board in September 2013.
-Executive director evaluation and compensation philosophy. A review of the current process.
-Leadership in the second 100 years and implications for ICMA. Discussion on the role for ICMA and state associations in assisting the profession with the challenges and opportunities facing local government in the future.

  • Receive an update on the Life, Well Run campaign
  • Review ICMA’s new Center for Management Strategies working agreement for research with the Alliance for Innovation and Arizona State University and discuss a concept to develop a collaborative research network to further expand ICMA’s research efforts.
