ICMA, the International City/County Management Association, has joined forces with global energy and environmental solutions powerhouse Siemens Industry, Inc. to build stronger communities through initiatives including ICMA’s Life, Well Run public awareness campaign, which celebrates professionally managed cities, towns, and counties.

“This partnership is such a natural fit,” said Robert J. O’Neill, Jr. executive director of ICMA. "The company's commitment to providing solutions for energy-efficient, safe and secure buildings and infrastructure supports Life, Well Run’s message, which is that professionally managed communities are more effective, efficient, and the best places to call home.”

Siemens provides city-wide solutions that are designed to be smart, efficient, and sustainable and will help balance immediate challenges with long-term goals through civic infrastructure planning, fiscal responsibility, and thoughtful project management. For example, Siemens provided Rosenberg, TX, with a complete infrastructure project that enabled the city to complete improvements and finance capital costs through a performance contract.

"Siemens has been committed to the needs of cities, counties, and communities for many years now, and our partnership with ICMA will allow us to further that commitment,” said Mike Kearney, senior director of building performance and sustainability at Siemens Industry, Inc. “We look forward to supporting the Life, Well Run initiative, as well as the ICMA Annual Conference, in our efforts to help build more resilient communities."

Siemens officially became an ICMA Partner in May 2014.  The company will exhibit at ICMA’s 100th Annual Conference (Booth 513) in Charlotte, September 14-17, and will co-host the Sunday evening Welcoming Reception. In the Fall/Winter, Siemens and ICMA will co-host a webinar on innovative solutions.

The ICMA Strategic Partner Program was created in 1996 as an access point for private-sector participation in ICMA programs and activities. ICMA Strategic Partners have opportunities to assist professional local government managers by showcasing leading practice solutions and providing thought leadership. By providing infrastructure to the public as an ICMA Strategic Partner, Siemens supports the mission of ICMA’s Center for Sustainable Communities, which  helps develop sustainable, efficient, and resilient communities.
