The City of Grandview is proud to announce plans to bring Google’s Gigabit-Speed Internet services to its community. After initially introducing its “game-changing” product to just Kansas City, Kansas and Kansas City, Missouri, the City of Grandview is only the second community in the State of Missouri to sign an official partnership with the telecommunications giant.

On Tuesday night, the Board of Aldermen unanimously voted to approve an agreement with Google to deploy Google Fiber, an ultra-high-speed, fiber-to-home network.

“We are delighted to partner with Google to bring this cutting edge fiber-optic system to the Grandview community,” said Mayor Steve Dennis. “We’re thrilled to be able to provide this unique innovation opportunity for our citizens, school district, and home-based businesses,” he concluded.

Google Fiber offers an internet connection with speed 100 times faster than today’s average broadband, along with crystal clear high definition television signal.

Google will build the Grandview/Google Fiber Network by demand, meaning that pre-determined “Fiberhoods” will get Google Fiber service once pre-registration goals are met. Since there’s still extensive planning and engineering to do, it is hard to determine when service will be available to the community, but once the process is underway, more information will be provided.

Mayor Dennis also noted, “Grandview is already engaged and committed to encouraging entrepreneurial endeavors and to investing in innovation and infrastructure, and Google’s network should help to further stimulate the local economy by creating new jobs and expanding local businesses.”
