The Local Government Excellence Awards are presented in two categories: Program Awards and Professional Awards, and recognize outstanding contributions to the local government management profession. Professional Awards are presented to individuals for career achievement, development of new talent, and excellence in leadership as an assistant, early career leadership, and for academic contributions to the profession. Program Awards are presented for outstanding programs in the following areas: Community Health & Safety, Community Partnership, Community Sustainability and Strategic Leadership & Governance. 

Nomination Information

  • Consider a colleague that has made a significant difference in his or her community or to the profession.
  • Consider nominating an innovative and successful program implemented by a community.
  • Nominations are being accepted from both U.S. and international jurisdictions.
  • Students are encouraged to nominate a professor for the Academic Award.
