As the next wave of public administrators embarks upon career development, many have questions about the level and type of training needed to boost their careers. Tools are available for those interested in pursuing this path. ICMA can assist you in gathering new knowledge and obtaining new levels of credentialing.

• The Local Government Management Fellowship is a program designed to put its participants on a management track in city and county governments.
• The Emerging Professionals Leadership Institute is another great way to move into leadership roles for individuals who may not yet be ICMA members or who may not be working in a managerial position.
• Further down the road of experience are programs such as Leadership ICMA and Local Government 101, both of which aim at increasing the competencies needed for success at all levels of local government administration.
