Schiller Park, IL (pop. 11,709) – The Village of Schiller Park, a well-established community in Cook County located approximately 13 miles northwest of downtown Chicago, is seeking an experienced, collaborative, and forward-thinking municipal professional to serve as its next Village Manager. Known for its welcoming neighborhoods, convenient location, and diverse mix of residential, commercial, and industrial areas, Schiller Park offers the amenities of residential living with exceptional commuter access to the greater Chicago metropolitan area.

Schiller Park is at the crossroads of commerce featuring local arterials, the Tri-State Tollway, the Canadian National rail yard, and O’Hare International Airport. The Village encompasses an area of 2.77 square miles and is substantially developed. The primary area where major development opportunities for vacant properties remain is the Irving Park/Mannheim Tax Increment Financing (TIF) District area in the western part of the community.

The Village is governed by a Mayor/Board form of government consisting of a Village Mayor and six trustees elected at large for staggered four-year terms. The Village Clerk is also elected at large. The Village Manager is appointed by the Mayor with the consent of the Village Board.

The Village is a full-service municipality providing police, fire, public works, community development, and recreational services. The Village has 89 full-time and 50 part-time employees, and a $27.5 million general fund budget. Governed by a Mayor and six-member Board of Trustees, the Village Manager is responsible for overseeing day-to-day municipal operations, implementing Village policies, managing financial and organizational resources, representing the Village with intergovernmental and other groups, and providing professional guidance to elected officials.

Qualifications
• Minimum of seven years of progressively responsible municipal management experience, including at least five years in a supervisory capacity. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
• A bachelor’s degree in public administration, business administration, public policy, or a related field is required; a master’s degree is strongly desired.
• Excellent communication, diplomacy, and relationship-building skills.
• Demonstrated fiscal management, budgeting, capital planning, and complex project oversight experience.
• Strong experience in personnel leadership and labor relations, including union contracts, grievances, employee promotion, and discipline.
• A record of effective service delivery and practical problem-solving.

The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to build strong working relationships with elected officials, employees, residents, and the business community while fostering a collaborative, accountable, and responsive organizational culture.

Compensation & Benefits
The starting salary range is $185,000 – $200,000, depending on qualifications and experience, with a competitive benefits package including a vehicle allowance. Residency within the Village is not required.
