The Village of Arlington Heights is seeking an Economic Development Specialist to help businesses establish and grow in Arlington Heights—and to share what makes the Village a great place to invest and visit. Reporting to the Economic Development Manager, the Specialist helps attract new businesses, supports existing businesses, and serves as a resource for owners and developers.

In this role, you’ll work directly with businesses and developers, represent the Village at events, and help tell the story of Arlington Heights through marketing and digital content. You’ll also create marketing materials and develop content for the Village’s Take It to the Heights website and social media channels to highlight local businesses and events.

This position also researches trends, maintains an economic development database, and analyzes real estate, sales, and employment data to identify opportunities and evaluate initiatives. The Economic Development Specialist will administer financial incentive programs, including tax abatements, tax increment financing incentives, and the Village’s Zero Interest Loan programs. The position coordinates with Village departments to help businesses understand and meet requirements, assists with Arlington Alfresco and outdoor café seating for businesses, and works with the Village’s various partner organizations. The Economic Development Specialist also supports the Economic Alliance Committee through meeting preparation, research, communications, and follow-up.

We’re looking for a strong communicator who builds relationships, makes sense of data, creates effective marketing materials, and follows projects through to completion. A bachelor’s degree in business, economics, marketing, urban planning, or a related field and one to three years of relevant experience are required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the position’s duties. Evening and weekend meetings and events may be required.

The anticipated hiring range is $85,043-$89,813, with a full salary range of $85,043-$114,808. The Economic Development Specialist will work a 37.5-hour work week, Monday-Friday and will be offered a diverse and competitive benefits package, including health and dental insurance, paid vacation, opportunities for professional development and participation in the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund pension plan.
