The City’s slogan is “At the Heart of it All” and it is a full-service community that prides itself on being a great place to live, work, play, learn, and visit, and on providing high-quality municipal services.

Starting salary range $115K-$130K DOQ plus excellent benefits. The Mayor and Eight (8) Council members are elected on a non-partisan basis for two-year terms. $15.2M Operating Budget, including Utilities and One (1) active Tax Incremental Finance District (TIF). 36 FT, 140+PT and seasonal employees. Future emphasis for the first city administrator includes firmly establishing the position in Dodgeville city government; improving internal recordkeeping and operational processes; updating the City Comprehensive and Parks and Outdoor Recreation Plans; developing a long-range capital improvements plan (CIP) with emphasis on replacing aging municipal infrastructure; sustaining current economic development efforts, including downtown revitalization; developing enhanced community engagement and communications; and maintaining adequate first responder services.

Require bachelor’s degree in public or business administration or related field; prefer master’s degree with five (5) years of progressive municipal supervisory experience. An ICMA-CM credential is a plus. Consideration of candidates with private-sector or military experience will be given if they can demonstrate accomplishments that directly relate to the required skills. Desire a strong background in municipal finance, particularly budgeting and debt financing, including TIF; capital improvement planning and execution; human resources management; economic development facilitation/coordination; organizational change and staff development. The successful candidate should have a high level of both personal and professional integrity; be a team builder and leader in addressing community issues and problems; have a collaborative style in carrying out City Council policies; demonstrate good conflict resolution and negotiation skills; possess open and positive communication skills; have a strong commitment to public service and the ability to cultivate positive and productive relationships with the mayor, city council, staff, citizens and Dodgeville business community.
