Finance Director

City of Norfolk, NE

The City of Norfolk is seeking a qualified professional to serve as Finance Director, appointed by the Mayor
and reporting to the City Administrator.
Position Summary
Responsible for overseeing all City financial operations, including accounting, financial reporting, budgeting,
cash and debt management, grant administration, and retirement plans. Serves as Treasurer for the City,
Community Development Agency, and Northeast Nebraska Solid Waste Coalition. Supervises the Office
Manager and Senior Accountant.
Key Responsibilities
• Oversee accounting operations and annual financial reporting
• Manage budget process, investments, and receivables
• Coordinate debt issuance; serve as Registrar/Paying Agent
• Administer retirement plans and chair related committees
• Monitor and improve internal controls
• Support economic development efforts
• Oversee audits and financial reporting for multiple entities
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master’s preferred)
• Ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience, including supervision; municipal experience
preferred
• CPA and/or CPFO preferred or ability to obtain
