The Wyoming Association of Municipalities is a 501(c)(6) nonpartisan organization comprised of 98 Wyoming cities and towns. WAM’s mission is to promote democratic, effective local government. WAM advocates for local decision making and home rule. It works to develop and secure legislation that is beneficial to Wyoming municipalities and oppose legislation that is detrimental to their interest. WAM also provides training opportunities for newly elected officials and continuing education for city councilors, Mayors, and municipal staff on the legal, fiscal and policy issues facing Wyoming’s municipalities.

WAM is seeking an Executive Director to lead the organization in achieving its mission. The Director must be able to exercise highly responsible, professional, administrative, tasks, including legislative monitoring and advocacy and duties involving a wide variety of planning and coordinating activities for WAM.

Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree or master’s Degree, or post-secondary classes related to the areas of Public Administration or Business Administration. Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved may be considered. Extensive executive management background in municipal government and State legislative processes, including at least four (4) years of increasingly responsible experience in public administration, law, and association management. Must possess a valid Class C Wyoming driver’s license, be willing to travel as necessary, and be capable of being bonded. Must live in or be willing to locate to Cheyenne, Wyoming. The Executive Director reports to a 22-member Board of Directors.

The successful candidate must have strong management skills, be an effective leader, be a relationship builder and an excellent communicator. The ability to work with a diverse group local elected officials, state legislators as well as state agencies is a must.

The salary range for this position is $125,000 - $165,000 DOQE. WAM also provides an outstanding benefit package. WAM is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
