Moses Lake, Washington, (pop. 25,146), is situated on the shores of the lake that inspired its name and it is centrally located between Seattle and Spokane on Highway I-90 between fields of agriculture, freshwater lakes and popular recreational destinations. The City of Moses Lake has a council-manager form of government. Moses Lake's budget for 2022 is $83,623,444 with a General Fund of $30,949,916. The City employs 232 regular FTE's and over 200 seasonal workers.
Under the direction of the City Manager, the Assistant City Manager plans, organizes, and implements policies, programs, projects, and other activities on behalf of the City Manager. The Assistant represents the City Manager and the City’s interests with other levels and agencies of government, business, and the community at large. The Assistant City Manager leads and/or participates in research and other activities that contribute to short and long-range business plans for the City. The Assistant also may direct the activities of one or more of the City’s departments or divisions in the absence of the department or division director and serve as acting City Manager in the absence of the City Manager.
A bachelor’s degree in public administration, business, or a related field, and five (5) years of responsible managerial or department director experience in a municipal or other government setting is required. Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the diverse objectives and functions of the City in order to direct and coordinate work within the City on behalf of the City Manager, usually interpreted to require three (3) or more years of related local government experience, with a preference for Washington State experience is preferred. Any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training which provides sufficient knowledge to competently perform the duties and responsibilities of this position will be considered.
